HC seeks medical reports of detained Panaji protestors

PANAJI

The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Goa Medical College (GMC) to submit the medical certificates of the CJP protesters detained at Azad Maidan on Sunday in a sealed cover by the next hearing on October 19.

The direction came as Police Inspectors from Panaji and Pernem filed their affidavits in response to petitions challenging the detention of the protesters while the medical report was not placed on record.

In his affidavit, the Panaji Police Inspector stated that the protest was held without the requisite permission and that some protesters were placed under preventive detention based on their past conduct. He also maintained that there was no plan to detain the protesters overnight.

The GMC CMO, however, failed to submit the medical reports as directed by the High Court during the special hearing on Sunday evening.
