The post mortem report of Amol Patil, who was killed in an accident at Chorla Ghat on Monday, has stated that his death was due to head injuries caused by blunt impact. He also sustained multiple injuries in the mishap.
Police investigation has revealed that Patil wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the unfortunate incident. Witnesses have said that it is difficult to say whether oxygen supply could have stabilised the accident victim, who sustained such serious injuries.
PI Deepak Pednekar, who presently holds the additional charge of Valpoi police station, said that the case is being investigated as unnatural death.
“The truck was going up the slope and the motorcycle was travelling downhill. Prima facie, the point of impact is on the right of the motorcycle and the bumper of the truck was severely dented. It was a hard impact. We will investigate and then register an FIR according to the findings,” PI Pednekar stated.
GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (GVK EMRI) officials on Tuesday said there was not much the ambulance and its personnel could do in the case of the Honda youth who lost his life due to an accident on Chorla Ghat.
The ambulance response team covered a distance of around 20 kilometres in a matter of 20 minutes to reach the 25-year-old victim. Speaking to The Goan, GVK EMRI public relations in-charge, Pratishta Mudra, confirmed the ambulance had reached the victim but could not be resuscitated and died a few minutes after.
Additionally, the engine of the ambulance gave way after it had travelled the rough terrains of Chorla Ghats. “One cannot blame the ambulance for not working as it travelled a distance of 20 kilometres in 20 minutes on steep slopes,” said Mudras.
