Amid continuous rains, the sudden rise of seawater has caused heavy sand erosion and uprooting of several casuarina trees at Galgibaga beach.

According to locals, strong waves pounded the coastline, causing heavy sand erosion and several casuarina trees were found uprooted on the beach.

Locals expressed concern over the heavy sand erosion and said there is hardly any sand left on the Galgibaga coast.

“If no measures are taken, the sea will reach our residential houses, threatening our own existence,” feared one woman who was seen collecting branches for firewood.
