Hectic schedule on cards for PM as he arrives tomorrow

Amidst the election buzz, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will arrive in Goa, on Sunday, to inaugurate five projects including the renovated fort Aguada jail museum and felicitate four freedom fighters, six panchayats and six swayampurna mitras as part of the diamond jubilee celebration of Goa’s liberation.

Modi, who is expected to touch the Dabolim airport at around 1.30 noon time, will also address the public later in the evening at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium in Taleigao.

After the public address the PM will fly back to the national capital the same evening.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed that PM Narendra Modi will arrive on December 19 at the Dabolim airport at 1.30 pm from where an IAF chopper will transport him to the Taleigao helipad.

“The PM will first travel to Azad Maidan in Panaji and pay his respects at the martyr’s memorial and then receive the tri-services guard of honour,” Sawant said, while addressing the media.

Modi’s next stop will be to Miramar where he will be received by local MLA Anatasio alias Babush Monserrate.

As part of the 60th Goa Liberation Day celebrations, the PM along with Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will watch a grand fly-past event at the Miramar beach for around 25 minutes.

The fly-past and a sail parade on the Miramar beach are open for the public.

“The fly-past and sail parade is a unique event which is not organised very often. I request the people of Goa, especially the students, to come and witness the programme at the Miramar beach. The government has taken care of all details including supply of drinking water for the public,” the CM informed.

From Miramar, the PM will move to the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium in Taleigao where he will be attending a felicitation programme and later address the public.

“The PM will be felicitating four freedom fighters, six panchayats and six swayampurna mitras. Besides, he will virtually inaugurate five projects “ renovated fort Aguada jail museum, super-speciality block of GMC, South Goa district hospital, aviation skill development at Mopa airport and gas insulated substation at Davorlim, Navelim,” Sawant said.

The CM informed that the government has made all the arrangements for people to attend the public programme at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium in Taleigao.

He said besides the indoor stadium which has a capacity of 6000, four hangars with large live screens have been erected outside the stadium for those who arrive late.

He further said the facility of thermal screening has been made at the stadium and for those who may run a temperature a rapid test is also made available at the site.
