OLD GOA
Even as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed various government departments to withdraw licenses to the controversial Old Goa structure, heritage lovers have said they would not withdraw their fast satyagraha until it is razed to the ground.
When contacted, Ana Gracias informed The Goan that the fast satyagraha will not be withdrawn till the structure is demolished.
“Revoking the licenses is not the solution. What we are demanding is the demolition of the structure. Until that happens, we are not going to withdraw our fast satyagraha,” Gracias added.
One of the organisers of the fast satyagraha, Mariano Ferrao, also spoke the same language as he said they will not withdraw the fast satyagraha based on CM’s directives.
“What we are demanding is demolition of the structure and we are sticking to our demand,” Ferrao added.
Meanwhile, as the satyagraha entered the fourth day, Cumbarjua Congress Block President Vishal Volvoikar also joined in, a day after issuing a clarification that as a local panch he had only seconded the resolution for issuing licence to the structure without being aware of the fraud involved.
Activist Aruna Wagh, who has been at the forefront of the agitation against the structure, also joined the fast on Saturday.
