Hotmixing work begins at Baina

VASCO

The hotmixing of the main road from Ambabai Temple in Mangor to Kamat Garage in Baina began on Monday.

Speaking to reporters at the launch, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar assured that the work would be completed in two to three days. He also confirmed that long-neglected Islampur road was included in the project.

“This project, costing Rs 90 lakh, will cover the stretch from Ambabai Temple to Kamat Garage in Baina. We are also including Islampur road, which has been ignored for years. The road near the school in Islampur was in terrible condition, making it difficult for students. We are now committed to resurfacing almost all roads in Vasco,” Salkar said.

He also spoke about other road projects in the constituency. “The road from Thakkar House to Varunapuri Junction has already been approved, but work is on hold because we are building four new culverts near Tanya Hotel, which need road widening. A new railway overbridge near Tanya Hotel is also coming up, and we don’t want to redo the roadwork later. So, we will take up this work after two months,” he explained.

Salkar assured that major roads across Vasco, including internal roads, would be resurfaced in the coming months.

Speaking about the long-pending Baina Garden project, he said redevelopment was almost complete.

“We have a Rs 7 crore project to demolish all shops around the garden and build a new structure with a hall. Shopkeepers will get new shops in the same location with better facilities. The tender will be issued next week and cleared within a month, after which work will begin,” he said.
