How hard was that? Barrels on Curti road moved aside

Action taken after issue highlighted in The Goan

PONDA
The barrels and wooden log that were kept in front of petrol pump at Curti-Borim bypass since last many months were finally pushed to the side of the road, after The Goan highlighted the issue.
The Ponda traffic police were helpless in removing the barrels and wooden log kept in front of petrol pump, which was creating a obstruction to the traffic. Almost 2 metres breadth of road was occupied by the barrels, where cars were parked very often.
Speaking to The Goan on condition of anonymity, a traffic police said they had tried their level best to remove it, but they couldn't succeed. "Our traffic inspector had written to the deputy collector to take action," the police said.
Though the barrels are pushed to the side of the road, an abandoned car is still parked on the road.
When contacted, traffic inspector Ram Aasare said action will be taken. "We will take action and will try to remove the car from the road," Aasare said.
It may be recalled that trucks are parked long the Curti-Borim bypass. The Curti-Khandepar and Bethora-Nirankal gram sabhas had many a times discussed the issue of parking of trucks along the bypass roads. The Curti Panchayat had told the villagers that a letter in this regard was sent to the Regional Transport Office, but trucks are still parked along both sides of the road.
As the parking of trucks is taking place in this area, open defecation and littering of waste is taking place by truck drivers and cleaners, creating nuisance in the area.
