Hyderabad youth leader banned from entering South Goa

MARGAO

South Goa District Magistrate, Asvin Chandru, has issued an order under section 163 of the Bharatiya Naagirk Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, prohibiting the entry of Salman Khan, a member of Hyderabad Youth Courage, within the jurisdiction of South Goa District for a period of 60 days with effect from October 5.

The District Magistrate has warned that any person contravening the order shall be liable for punishment under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The Deputy Collector and Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ponda, has been instructed to verify any violation of the order, and to take necessary action by filing an FIR before the concerned police station and lodging a complaint before the concerned Judicial Magistrate in the matter against the violator.

The Superintendent of Police, South Goa District, has been instructed to strictly enforce the order for the maintenance of law and order in the area.

The District Magistrate’s order comes after the Superintendent of Police, South, pointed out that an application from Aftab Sandi, Naga Masjid, Ponda, was submitted to the Ponda Police Station requesting permission to inaugurate the Goa Youth Foundation office premises on October 6 at Naga Masjid, Kurti, Ponda-Goa, where they had invited Salman Khan as a Chief Guest to deliver a motivational speech, followed by a meeting at Savitri Hall, Kurti, Ponda.

While issuing the prohibitory order, the District Magistrate stated that the law and order situation had been assessed in the jurisdiction of South Goa District through all SDPOs in the South District, and intelligence collected so far revealed that Salman Khan, a member of Hyderabad Youth Courage, is allegedly involved in several controversial activities such as delivering volatile and religious hate speeches.

“There is every apprehension that there is a likelihood of violence, which may create a law and order situation and disturb peace and tranquillity in the area if the said person is allowed to enter South Goa District,” the order stated.
