The Goan: In one sentence, why should people vote for you?
Isidore Fernandes: Looking at my past performance, the way I have provided service to the people, my foresight as far as development is concerned and my vision for the sake of people, my strength in giving service equally to all my constituents .
TG: If you are part of the government, which is the first legislation you would like to pass in the Assembly?
IF: I earnestly long for production of power in the state itself, rather than importing it. A legislation where employment especially for Canacona becomes a basic right, another by which we can streamline business community so that unemployed youth get attracted towards tourism business.
TG: Which is that one leader outside your party that you admire as a politician, and why?
IF: Scindia or Pilot -- the two youngster politicians are also good orators, always seen in most authentic discussions on issues on people’s welfare.
TG: Who would be your chief ministerial choice, should your party come into power?
IF: Myself, why should I prefer anyone else? If the circumstances sway like what happened in Jharkhand, I as an independent MLA would prefer to be chief minister.
TG: Do you justify a merger by 2/3rd or do you consider it as a move against the mandate of people? Explain.
IF: No, I am against the merger. In fact, though I myself had merged once by that 2/3rd criteria, it is betrayal of the trust of your people. I personally do not approve of it and I don't consider it as correct move.
TG: Do you feel that the 2022 election will throw a clear winner? Who are your top three finishers along with seats they are likely to win.
IF: No way, it will be a fractured mandate. The BJP cannot cross 17 on its own and it could get around 15-17, followed by Congress 8-10, AAP 2-5 and TMC 0-1.
