I had expressed doubts on Bhumiputra bill: Jennifer

MARGAO
Revenue Minister Jennifer Monserrate on Wednesday said she had expressed her doubts over the Goa Bhumiputra Adkhikarini Bill 2021 since she wanted a thorough discussion on the Bill before it was passed in the Legislative Assembly.

She, however, said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will take the right decision and will look into the issues raised by the people against the Bill.

When asked whether she was fearful of the Bill as and when it becomes law, Jennifer said, “My whole thing was that the Bill should have been discussed further and brought up before the next Assembly session. I had put up a noting on the issue centered on one point that the Bill should have been put for discussion before being brought and passed at the next session,” she said.

When asked whether the government has addressed her concerns over the Bill, the Revenue Minister said the Chief Minister has put up the Bill for public opinion, adding, “I am sure that the Chief Minister will take the right decision. There was opposition to the Bill and I am sure the Chief Minister would look into the matter and take a proper decision”.
