The Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy skies with the possibility of heavy rainfall or thunderstorm in Goa between March 14 and 18 owing to depression over the southeast Arabian Sea.
Though the temperature is expected to fluctuate between 25-34 degree Celsius till Sunday, it could dip by a degree each in the following two days.
According to the website of the India Meteorological Department, the depression over the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean moved north-northwestwards on Tuesday and Wednesday and is presently centered over southeast Arabian Sea, about 130 km southeast of Minicoy, 340 km west- southwest of Thiruvanathapuram and 380 km north-northeast of Male (Maldives).
It is likely to move northwestwards and maintain the intensity of depression during next 24 hrs.
“There is low probability for further intensification of the system into deep depression. It is likely to weaken gradually over southeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea after 24 hours,” states the official press statement from IMD.
The warning also states that rain and thunder shower is very likely to occur on Wednesday over south Tamil Nadu, and over Kerala and Lakshadweep on Wednesday and Thursday.
The weather is also likely to remain windy and cloudy till March 18 over the entire southern peninsula whereas the seas are expected to be very rough and choppy.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off south Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep during the next 24 hrs.
