MARGAO
As BJP workers from Margao and surrounding Salcete villages got into a celebratory mood after BJP’s landslide election victory in West Bengal and Assam, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat on Monday said the BJP would retain power in Goa in the 2027 Assembly election with 30 of the 40 Assembly seats.
Besides the PWD Minister, BJP Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuemkar, Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar, Councillors, and workers from across Salcete participated in a victory procession in the New market area of the city.
In his brief address, Kamat said the victory of the BJP in West Bengal goes to the party workers who had sacrificed their lives to keep the party flag flying high in the state. “Thousands of BJP workers had to face harassment, hardships and even death at the hands of the party in power, but the workers continued to fight against the regime despite the atrocities”, he said.
Saying that workers constitute the real strength of the BJP, Kamat said he has no doubt that the party would win the 2027 Assembly election with 30 seats.
He also complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vigorous campaign in the states that had gone to the recently held elections, including West Bengal, which was behind the success of the party.
