Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Vijayalaxmi Shivolkar on Saturday directed that a show cause notice be issued to Panaji Women's Police sub-inspector Sandhya Gupta for not complying with the undertaking given to the Court that the Goa BJP Vice-President and Chairman of the OBC Corporation Anil Hoble would be charge sheeted within two days in the dowry harassment case.
Hoble, his wife Sandhya and son Milind were booked on July 12 by the Women Police Station under Sections 498 A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506(ii) (criminal intimidation) read with Section 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code and Sections 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act.
Arguing on a petition filed before the Court, Adv Aires Rodrigues pointed out that PSI Gupta had on October 7 made a solemn statement before the Court that the chargesheet against Anil Hoble would be filed within two days.
The petition was filed by Suchitra Shirodkar, who has sought Court directions to the police to properly investigate the case as the accused Anil Hoble is politically very influential. Shirodkar is the mother of Hoble's daughter-in-law, who was beaten black and blue over an alleged demand for dowry.
Pointing out that it is almost a month and that the chargesheet has yet not been filed, Adv Aires Rodrigues submitted that PSI Gupta was in contempt of Court.
JMFC has adjourned the matter to November 18.
