After having recently issued an eight-day deadline, Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes inspected the flooded portion of the Ponsulem-Patnem-Rajbag junction and suggested various measures to address the problem.
Fernandes visited the site on Wednesday and offered to assist PWD engineers PWD (Highway) AE and JE’s who were inspecting the site.
Fernandes is also learnt to have contacted the road contractor and directed him to expedite corrective measures before another flooding takes place in the area.
Fernandes also put forth suggestions offered by local residents to avert further flooding the area and said rainwater would previously flow smoothly before the construction of the four-lane road and underpass bridge.
“Despite Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant issuing instructions during his last inspection, corrective measures were not taken, resulting in flooding of the area. It is time authorities expedite the necessary measures, before people are put to any further threat,” said the Canacona MLA.
