Income tax teams from Goa and Karnataka jointly carried out raids in Belagavi from early Tuesday morning.
The raid was carried out on a few leading industrialists with probable links to Goa.
Sleuths of the Income Tax (IT) Commissionarate of Karnataka and Goa jointly conducted surprise raids on the residences and offices of four prominent businessmen in Belagavi city in the early hours of Tuesday and inspected the documents etc. However, details were not available till late Tuesday evening.
Raids were carried on business houses involved in domestic and international businesses. Officials were examining documents at the locations where the raids were conducted. Local police have provided security to them.
The IT Department is yet to issue a press release officially declaring the names of the industrialists raided, but teams were seen entering the houses and offices at Hindwadi, Ganeshpur and Camp area of Belagavi.
