Ivermectin: Major setback for State

Goa faced a major setback after the Centre on Monday decided to drop Ivermectin from the use in treating Covid patients.

Goa will now have to drop its idea of distributing Ivermectin tablets as a prophylactic treatment protocol. 

Asked to comment on the status of Ivermectin in Goa, Dr Shekhar Salkar said, “it is up to the expert committee and government to take a note of this.” Dr Salkar further added that he has to read on which data and published paper this decision is based.

Dr Sanjay Khope said  “plasma therapy, Doxycycline, Hydroxyquinoline and Ivermectin were experimental drugs in the armamentarium of Covid prevention since beginning as the pathophysiology has newer incites day by day due to research not affected the outcome and it was over used in various protocols”.
