Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaocar has filed a defamation case against Medha Parulekar, the wife of former MLA and Saligao MLA Dilip Parulekar and one Jayesh Samant for spreading false posts through social media.

Addressing a press conference, the minister said that the duo was circulating a defamatory messages stating his brother-in-law is an accused in a rape which took place in Nerul and that on account of Jayesh’s influence, his role has been hushed up by the police.

“I want to ask these people where they have got this name from? The girl in her statement before the magistrate has not mentioned anything and nothing is mentioned in the complaint too,” Jayesh told reporters.

Jayesh Samant deliberately with malafide intentions and in connivance with some unknown persons has indulged in making false and defamatory personal allegations against me alleging that I am trying to protect a rape accused one Biradar Basu. He also cast aspersions and false accusations against my brother in law Rohit Parulekar, Salgaocar said in his complaint.

He cited two messages, one of which goes like this: “This is Rohit Parulekar, brother in law of Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaocar who was involved in the gang rape of the minor girl who was drugged and raped at a hotel in Nerul, Verem. There are five of them involved along with the boy Biradar Basu, but he was arrested and the brother-in-law of Jayesh and his friends were not, Why?”

The complaint has been filed before the Crime Branch with a copy sent to the North Goa Superintendent of Police. His brother in law too has filed a separate complaint.
