JMFC summons SP, PI for not filing FIR over Shetye’s plaint

VASCO
The Vasco Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) has issued notices to the Superintendent of Police (South) and the Mormugao police inspector, directing them to appear before the court on March 17 at 10 am.

The notice comes in response to a petition filed by Kashinath Shetye, Nodal Officer and Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department, alleging failure to register an FIR on his complaint. The notice, issued by Pooja S Desai, states that the court has taken cognisance of Shetye’s application under Section 175(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

"After going through the application, this court has passed an order to issue notice to you. You are therefore required to appear before this court on March 17 at 10 AM to file your reply/say, failing which the matter will be dealt with as per law," the notice reads.

The case is now set for a hearing on March 17, where the police officials are expected to explain their stance on the FIR complaint.
