John Moraes' new tiatr does the rounds

John Moraes is set to make waves, as his latest production ‘He Artik Xevott Nam’ hits the stage with a bang

Konkani stage artiste John Moraes, from Velsao in Salcette,is back in the news again, after a long time with the release of his tiatr ‘HeArtik Xevott Nam’. The show was released on November 3 at the Ravindra BhavanSanvordem, and is having a successful run in the major towns as well as thevillages in Goa.

John Moraes , as may be recalled, is a tiatr artiste whoearlier had stints with Playwrights Vitorino Pereira, Patrick Dourado andothers, till he took a short break to pursue his professional interests on thehigh seas. He is still working on board the ship, however,  back home he mixes his holidays with his onlypassion- ‘tiatrs’. He had scripted and produced three tiatrs in the past. Thoseinclude ‘Ekuch Rogot, Serpent, and Hath’.

His latest release ‘He Artik Xevott Nam’ has an impressivecast with Mumbai’s Succorina, Marcus Vaz, Xavier Gomes, Osy Viegas,Anil-Fatima, Jack de Colva, Com. Cyril, Romilla, Volito, Comedian Terena andothers. Maestro Diniz has scored and arranged the music, while Saldanha hasdone the stage sets. Old timer Babu returns back as the stage manager.

Though the director is reluctant to throw any light on theplot of his play, he says the central theme of the play deals with the story ofa musician and their musical talents. The director has several confirmed showsin hand, several of which are scheduled to be staged in the villages.

‘He Artik Xevott Nam’ will be staged at Socorro on November21 and at Utorda, November 25. According to the director the show will continueto be staged for a long time after January.
