Karapur local commits suicide
BICHOLIM: A 38-year-old daily wage worker from Kudupwada-Karapur, Bicholim, was found hanging from a cashew tree behind his residence on Monday.
According to Bicholim PI Sridhar Kamat, Sawalo Vaigankar was working as a labourer on daily wages. Recently, when he was having drinks in a bar, some of his companions made fun of him and since then Vaigankar went into depression and was drinking excessively.
Police further informed that Vaigankar was last seen by his relatives at 6 pm on Sunday, but after that he went missing. He was found hanging from a cashew tree behind his house. The incident came to light when a KTC bus driver saw him. The driver raised an alarm and the matter was reported to the police. Depression is the reason ascertained by the police.
The body, after inquest panchanama at GMC, was handed over to his relative for final rites. Panchanama was conducted by PSI Sridhar Kamat who is investigating the case under the guidance of PI Narayan Chimulkar and DySP Ramesh Gaonkar.
