Kharge’s green signal to Cong on alliances with like-minded parties

Kharge’s green signal to Cong on alliances with like-minded parties
Will Congress president Girish Chodankar and his Goa Forward counterpart Vijai Sardesai resume alliance talks post Kharge’s visit to Goa?

MARGAO

The Congress president has given the Goa Congress leadership a go-ahead to explore electoral alliances with like-minded parties, making it clear that the High Command will intervene only if differences arise among the non-BJP parties.

However, several questions remain unanswered over how the Congress intends to proceed with its existing alliance partner, the Goa Forward Party, as well as the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Congress has already constituted a panel to take forward discussions on possible alliances.

For now, the Congress has invited the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) for talks, but no such invitation has been extended to other parties.

As far as Goa Forward is concerned, the Congress leadership has maintained that the regional party had suo motu suspended alliance talks. The Congress is now waiting for Goa Forward to revoke the suspension before initiating fresh discussions.

Meanwhile, questions are also being raised over whether the Congress leadership will be willing to enter into an electoral arrangement with the AAP, given the continuing war of words between leaders of the two parties.
