PORVORIM
Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has assured that the bad stretch of road would be repaired near the TVS showroom in Porvorim.
Khaunte was speaking to media persons after inspecting the portion of the national highway near TVS showroom along with PWD officials.
The condition of the NH 66 near TVS showroom has deteriorated and has become uneven. Vehicles have been forced to slow down and this has led to traffic congestion during peak hours. Some accidents have been reported after two-wheeler riders have lost control and fallen due to the uneven road.
“I have received several complaints about the pathetic condition of this road from locals and they had demanded hotmixing of this portion of the road. As a result, I contacted officials of PWD (Roads) to highlight the pitiable condition of this road,” said Khaunte.
“I have also spoken to PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral and requested him to undertake the hotmixing of this road urgently. If hotmixing is not possible immediately, then the PWD should at least carry out urgent repairs of this portion of the road.”
“The tourist season has begun and traffic on this portion of the road has risen sharply. During peak hours, there always occurs congestion of traffic and it becomes difficult for motorists to travel on the road. Cabral has agreed to direct the engineers concerned to attend to the repair work of this portion of the road,” said Khaunte.
