Khola gets third sarpanch in two years

CANACONA

Priyanka Pavitra Velip was on Friday elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Khola panchayat, the third sarpanch to occupy the post in two years of the current term of the panchayat tenure. The post had fallen vacant after Krishna Velip submitted his resignation a fortnight ago, as part of a mutual agreement among the panchas.

Presiding Officer and Canacona BDO Extension Officer Pradeep Gaude, who was assisted by Panchayat Secretary Damodar Kankonkar, declared Priyanka Pavitra Velip elected unopposed as she was the only panch to file a nomination.

Outgoing sarpanch Krishna Velip, Dy Sarpanch Tejal Pagui, Panch members Pandhari Prabhudesai, Krupesh Velip, Priyanka Prasad Velip, Ajay Pagi and Pradnya Kamat were present, while a lone panch Prabhakar Vaiz was not present for the meeting.

It may be recalled that soon after panchayat elections in 2022, Ajay Pagui was elected the first sarpanch. The post of sarpanch was then passed on to Krishna Velip, an ex-ZP (Khola) member.
