Meet seeks Saleri bridge rebuild, cleanliness drives, water pipeline relief

Khola Gram Sabha resolves not to issue trade licences or NOCs to non-Goan tourism operators and promote only local tourism entrepreneurs.
Khola Sarpanch informed that preference will be given to local Goan operators, and no non-Goan existing licences/NOCs will be renewed nor issued henceforth to non-Goan tourism entrepreneurs.
Placing before the gram sabha, a member Prashant Kholkar pressed to pass a resolution that no permission/licence/NOCs will be given for any type of project to non-Goans. Other members present demanded to place before the gram sabha the number of non-Goan businessmen recorded in Khola village and also demanded to know how employment is given to Khola villagers. Members also sought to know whether all the shack-owners have submitted proper documentation to start the businesses and if not what action the panchayat has taken against such businesses.
After a prolonged discussion, a unanimous resolution was passed that henceforth no NOC nor any licences/permits will be issued to any non-Goan to operate tourism or any other businesses in the village.
A resolution is also passed to hold cleanliness drives in each of the 9 wards of the Khola Panchayat area and keep the village clean.
After discussing the impending danger of the weak and on-the-verge-of-collapse bridge at Saleri, a resolution is passed to represent to the government to immediately consider rebuilding of Saleri bridge as the existing one is posing a grave risk to human lives. The sarpanch also informed that though the panchayat has requested the stability test report conducted by the government through an expert agency, the same is not yet received, but according to the panchayat understanding, Saleri bridge has gone weak and exhausted its lifespan and needs immediate action to demolish the same and construct a new one.
An important water pipeline from Kudai to Kazumoll once completed will bring a big relief to the residents of the village.
Panchayat secretary Raju Naik Gaunkar, panch members Krishna Velip, Pandhari Prabhudesai, besides many gramsabha members took part in the discussion.
