For the first time, the Kadamba Transport Corporation has introduced a ring service in the commercial capital for the benefit of commuters travelling within the city, along the lines of the service in the capital city.
The ring service, launched by PWD Minister Digambar Kamat in the presence of KTC chairman and MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, will offer bus services to commuters travelling within the city, including neighbouring Navelim — the home constituency of the KTC chairman.
The KTC has introduced the ring service by deploying two buses, which will ply clockwise and anticlockwise, serving areas including the KTC bus stand, Margao market, Aquem and Navelim.
After launching the service, the PWD Minister said he had requested the KTC chairman to explore the possibility of starting the ring service in the commercial capital, considering its success in the capital city of Panjim. “The KTC chairman and the Transport Minister were kind enough to sanction the ring service for Margao. This is just the beginning, and the KTC will deploy additional buses depending on the support and response from the travelling public,” Kamat said.
The KTC chairman echoed similar sentiments. He said the KTC had introduced the ring service with two buses, promising to add more based on demand. “If the ring service evokes a positive response from commuters, the KTC will consider expanding the service in the city,” Tuenkar added.
