MARGAO
Around 22 shuttle buses from Margao, besides buses from Panaji ply on the Margao-Panaji route everyday, but the shortage is felt during the peak hours, resulting in a serpentine queue of commuters at the Margao bus stand every day.
When the media questioned the KTC depot manager, Margao Roque Luis to shed light on the serpentine queue of passengers at the Margao bus stand every morning, he attributed the situation to a host of factors, including bus shortage, traffic bottle necks on the route, students commuters etc. "Around 22 shuttle buses leave from the Margao bus stand to Panaji in the morning. One finds a queue of passengers at the Margao bus stand because of the delay in the arrival of these buses back to the city from Panaji."
"Traffic congestion may be one reason for the delay in the late arrivals of buses from Panaji to Margao," he said, adding that KTC has now roped in school buses in the morning after school trips.
Curtorim locals demand bus service
MARGAO: A delegation of residents of Fondegal-Curtorim, including senior citizens called on the KTC Margao depot manager, with a plea to introduce a bus to the area and alleviate the hardships faced by the commuters from the area.
They told the depot manager Roque Luis that there's no service to Fondegal, which is inhabited by around 1000 people, including many senior citizens.
They pointed out that a KTC bus to the locality will go a long way in ameliorating the hardships faced by the residents of the area.
A memorandum signed by around 300 residents of Fondegal was handed over to the KTC depot manager with a request to connect the area by a bus service.
A senior citizen Richard D'Sa pointed out that Fondegal has a sizeable population of senior citizens, adding that a bus service to the locality will help the senior citizens as well.
The depot manager told the delegation that there's no existing KTC bus stand plying close to the locality, promising to conduct a study before exploring the possibility of diverting an existing bus to the locality and solve the grievances of the people.
