The State government is exploring the possibility of bringing in a regulation to protect houses, constructed on comunidade land from demolition.
Speaking to media persons on Monday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that he has come across cases wherein houses, constructed on the comunidade land, almost over a decade back, are being demolished now calling it as “illegal”.
“One comunidade committee is granting permission to those houses to construct while the next committee orders its demolition. These committees even go to Court. This needs to be stopped somewhere or else our local people will suffer,” Sawant said.
“Hence, there is a need to bring some rectification in the law. I will work with the Law department and Advocate general to put in place some regulations to protect these houses,” he added.
The Chief Minister said that regulations or necessary rectification in law will help in granting protection to these houses, especially those which are there for several years.
In the recent months, several comunidades, across State have ordered or demolished houses and structures located on the land, terming it as illegal.
