MARGAO
The structure housing the rest room for KTC drivers and conductors and its surroundings has come back to haunt the authorities again.
Scribes covering the state of affairs of the building, however, had to face threat of a police complaint from KTC officials, who threatened media persons to either delete the video of the building or face police complaint.
Leaking roofs, waterlogging around the buildings, etc was found rampant when the media went to cover the state of the structure. While the drivers and conductors were left with no option than to fend for themselves in the dingy restroom with a leaking roof, fear of vector borne diseases loom large due to waterlogging around the building. It is feared that the stagnant water may offer a perfect breeding place for mosquitoes and give rise to vector borne diseases.
Incidentally, the same structure was housing the KTC canteen which has now been shut down after queries raised by the Food and Drugs Administration.
Incidentally, when the media sought comments from the KTC officials, they were told to delete the video of the structure or face police complaint.
When contacted, KTC Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar said the structure housing the restroom, canteen, etc will be given a facelift after the monsoons. He said the KTC has floated a tender to repair and refurbish the structure. To a question, Tuenkar said the KTC management has moved to resume the canteen facility for the benefit of the KTC employees.
