LIC's social security month

PANAJI: Life Insurance Corporation of India is celebrating the month of October as 'Social Security' month, to spread the message of social security through life insurance among the poor.

Special efforts are being made in reaching out to the underprivileged through its Aam Admi Bima Yojana which has an add-on benefit of Shiksha Sahayog Yojana free of cost.

Total lives covered by LIC during the last financial year 2015-16 under social security schemes are 5 crore. Total new lives covered during the last financial year 2015-16 are 1.46 crore.

Nature walk in Panaji on Oct 9PANAJI: Goa Heritage Action Group (GHAG) is conducting a nature walk in Panaji on October 9, led by renowned naturalist and organic farmer Miguel Braganza. The walk will start from Kala Academy in front of main entrance at 9 am and will last about 90 minutes. Miguel Braganza will point out different types of trees in Panaji, and other interesting plants and wildlife to be found in the capital city of Goa. Those interested should contact the CHAG.
