Light showers across parts of Goa on Sunday brought much-needed relief from the prolonged spell of heat and humidity, just ahead of a IMD forecast of intensified monsoon activity over the next two days.
Rainfall was reported from several areas in Sattari, Canacona and Tiswadi talukas, while Panaji, also received light showers during the day. The rainfall led to a noticeable drop in temperatures and provided respite to residents who had been experiencing unusually warm weather conditions in recent days.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Goa on Monday and Tuesday, forecasting heavy rainfall in several parts of the coastal state. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during this period due to expected rough weather conditions.
The weather department has also predicted a gradual increase in rainfall activity over the next three to four days.
Meanwhile, the government continues to monitor the progress of the monsoon closely, with existing reservoir water stocks estimated to last for about a month.
