The world-famous Palolem beach was hit by two power outages on Friday, but the situation turned dangerous when a live wire snapped and fell on the road at the entrance to the main beach.
According to sources, there was a sudden power outage at about 3.45 pm and the power supply was restored only after 5 pm.
Later at about 8.15 pm, a live electricity cable snapped from the main power line and fell on the busy beach road near the Palolem shore main entrance.
Many people, mostly visitors, coming up from the beach were unaware of the danger and some locals began alerting them of the impending danger. The locals also notified the electricity department to urgently attend to the snapped wire.
