A local youth has been arrested for allegedly peddling drugs near Banastarim market following a raid conducted by Crime Branch late last night.
The accused is identified as Keshav alias Sairaj Shet Verekar, aged 24 from Usgaon, Ponda.
The CB seized a white polythene bag allegedly containing greenish flowering and fruiting tops of a plant believed to be the narcotic drug Ganja, as per a statement issued by the department today.
The total weight of the seized substance was reported to be around 1.650 kgs, with an estimated international market value of Rs 2.05 lakh. The raiding team also confiscated a smartphone from the possession of the accused.
The arrest and seizure were made under the provisions NDPS Act 1985, under section 20(b)(ii)(B). Further investigations are on.
