Residents of Bonbag in Bethora have been hit by acute water shortage for nearly a week.

Locals complained that had been forced to go out in search of water. Some people brought water in their vehicles from other villages at night.

Residents reported the matter to PWD authorities on Thursday morning and Assistant Engineer Kashinath Saraf sent junior engineer Aparna Naik to the area to ascertain the situation.

The junior engineer assured the villagers that water would be supplied through tankers until water supply was restored to the area. The PWD then dispatched tankers to supply water to residents in Bonbag.

According to villagers, a resolution had been passed in the Gram Sabha of the Panchayat in 2021 not to provide new tap connections till authorities resolved the water issues faced by residents of Bonbag.

They claimed that the resolution had been forgotten as in the last 2-3 years, the population near Bonbag has increased significantly and a large number of tap connections have been provided to that area.
