Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, along with Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira, on Saturday met former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court Ferdino Rebello and supported his call to “protect Goa”. “I fully support the call given by Justice Ferdino Rebello that our Goa should be protected. Every person who loves Goa should come forward to speak against the illegalities taking place in the State,” Alemao said after the meeting with Rebello.
He said it is reassuring that someone of his (Rebello’s) stature is guiding efforts to protect Goa’s environment and traditions. “Common people are angry about the destructive activities taking place in the State. But the situation is such that some of them don’t voice it as the current dispensation plays vindictive politics. Those who speak against illegalities are either beaten or harassed in many ways. I am confident that the call given by Justice Rebello will encourage our people to protect our Goem,” Alemao said.
