The Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao today raised serious concern over the threats to Goa's communal harmony and peace.
In a statement issued on X, Alemao accused right-wing outfits associated with the BJP of attempting to disrupt the state’s long-standing tradition of brotherhood.Right-wing outfits targeting Goa’s peace said LoP"There is a threat to our original DNA of communal harmony and peace. Right-wing outfits associated with BJP are trying to disturb our peace and communal harmony," he said.He urged people not to fall prey to the agenda of communal divide and to be focused on maintaining brotherhood and protecting Goem & India.“In the face of rising tensions, we must prioritize our brotherhood and unity. Let us not fall prey to agendas that seek to divide us,” Alemao stated.In a statement made on X, Alemao further criticized the ruling BJP for the reckless sale of Goa’s land and resources. He specifically called for the scrapping of zone changes for properties under Section 39A of the Town & Country Planning Act, particularly in Ella, Old Goa, concerning surveys nos. 68/1-C and 65/3 (part). He labelled these changes as a threat not only to a world heritage site but also to the integrity of the Konkan Railway line.
