Lost in Parsekar era, Sudin wins back 100 jobs; courtesy Parrikar

In an interesting development, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has finally succeeded in getting a nod from Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to fill around 100 posts of LDCs and Meter Readers in the PWD department which were long pending since 2013.

It may be noted that the posts remained vacant since December 2016 when former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar announced a freeze on all recruitments citing financial crunch in the government's treasury.
Around 1,200 posts that were either to be revived or created in various departments such as PWD, Education, Police and Registrar of Co-operative Societies were put on hold following the freeze. Parsekar himself and Dhavalikar were the most affected on account of this move on recruitments.
The recruitment process for the 100 LDCs and Meter Readers in the PWD began in 2013 with written test and even interviews conducted.
The entire process was halted on account of Parsekar's decision to freeze recruitments, just before job letters could be issued. According to sources within the government, the freeze on these jobs parked off a cold war between Davalikar, who was also the PWD minister then, and Parsekar which eventually led to the chief minister dropping two of MGP ministers from his cabinet in December 2016.
However, Sudin Dhavalikar never lost sight of these 100 jobs. After taking over as the PWD minister in the Parrikar government, it is learnt that he immediately initiated the process of filing up these vacant posts and managed to get an approval from Parrikar to go ahead with the recruitment process.
It is also learnt that only after getting a green signal from the chief minister for these posts, Dhavalikar proceeded on a foreign tour to London and is expected back in the State on Monday. The process of issuing job letters is likely to start soon. FREEZE FRAME IN 2016
