CANACONA
A family on their way to a pilgrimage in Karnataka had a lucky escape after their car turned turtle at Shellim in Loliem-Polem early Tuesday morning.
According to the car driver Sandeep Kudalkar, they were going on a pilgrimage to Karnataka, when their car turned turtle at the turn on reaching Shellim at about 5.30 am on Tuesday.
“Don't know what went wrong, but by God's grace, we were all safe except for my mother who sustained a small cut above her eyes. Police arrived and also helped us. My mother was provided first aid at the CHC Canacona. Our vehicle has been badly damaged in this accident,” said Kudalkar.
A few locals also offered assistance to the family and sometime later, a mini-crane pulled the car and brought it back on its wheels.
According to locals, a sharp turn has often caught motorists off-guard and several accidents have taken place in the past.
“Motorists need to drive cautiously along this stretch of the NH66 highway,” informed a local.
