OLD GOA
When questioned whether he feels that he made the wrong decision by joining the BJP going by the fact that the Congress has emerged as the largest party, Madkaikar said that the reason behind leaving the Congress was the old faces representing the party again and again. “This time also, Congress gave tickets to old faces which resulted in many of them getting re-elected and I was against such old faces,” he said while opining that he made the right decision by joining the BJP.
“The question is whether they will be able to perform and deliver and whether they will be able to give a stable government,” Madkaikar opined while stating that there are now five former CMs who will fight among themselves for the coveted post.
“People know their history, how they have toppled governments, everybody is self-centred,” he said while stating that the problem of fighting for ministerial berths will crop up again and it will not augur well for Goa, thus hampering development.
Madkaikar was further quick to point out that even though BJP did not get the majority, there is still substantial scope to form government.
“MGP was an alliance partner earlier, so there is no problem for the parties to come together,” he said and informed that Goa Forward should also support the BJP. “That is the only and best option for Goa. At least BJP will give a stable government and bring funds for the State,” he added.
When questioned whether Vijay Sardessai will support the BJP, he said that there is nothing wrong in Sardessai supporting BJP because Congress has ditched him on many occasions. “Congress never wanted Sardessai to succeed. They ditched him and an intelligent person like Sardessai will never go with Congress,” Madkaikar added.
