The OBC Mahasangh has demanded the appointment of an OBC Commissioner in the State at the earliest, claiming that the post has been vacant for over 20 years.
“Since February 3, 2001, the post of OBC commissioner is vacant. After former speaker Vishwas Satarkar resigned as OBC commissioner, the post has not been filled,” said Nonu Naik of national OBC Mahasangh, while speaking to reporters.
Naik said due to non-availability of the OBC Commissioner, various pending issues regarding OBC cannot be resolved.
Meanwhile, Naik informed that the OBC Mahasangh has decided to bring together all small organisations working for the benefit of OBCs by organising a Jagruti Melava in Marcela on October 9.
“A total of 19 communities are clubbed under OBC in Goa and there is no functional OBC corporation in the State,” asked Naik.
