“We can do corrections in the Regional Plan 2021 wherever necessary and make the plan operational. Then we can work on the new RP-2030,” said D’Souza, who held the TCP department in the previous government under Laxmikant Parsekar.
The TCP department under D’Souza had finalized rectified plans for Sattari, Pernem and Canacona at the fag end of the last government’s term.
The TCP board had also approved the rectified plans for the three talukas and awaited government’s sanction.
The urban development minister said the TCP department needs to accept its mistakes and do corrections wherever necessary.
He said when he was the TCP minister he received several complaints from the public that settlement areas were converted into agricultural zone without informing them.
“Whatever the reasons for changing the zones but people should have been informed,” he told The Goan.
D’Souza said he had corrected almost 6 percent of objections in Pernem and Canacona and around 15 percent in Sattari after taking the locals and the MLA concerned into confidence.
“We had put in quite a bit of an effort. Everybody was happy with my performance,” he said.
He said there were many elements involved in formulating a plan in entirety and therefore the new Regional Plan 2030 would take a lot of time. “Do corrections and make the plan operational, then work on new RP 2030,” he opined.
