Man arrested for stalking woman in Mapusa market

MAPUSA
A man was arrested for stalking a woman in the Mapusa municipal market on Sunday, police informed.

The accused was identified as Mohan Gawada (25) who is a native of Karnataka but residing at Karraswada, Mapusa. The incident happened at around 10.15 am in the main market.

Police informed that the accused was stealthily following the victim woman in the market while she was shopping and clicking photos without her knowledge.

An alert shopkeeper noticed the act of the accused and informed the woman about the man’s suspicious movements.

The woman disclosed that she never knew the accused.

After coming to know that his game was up, the accused made a desperate bid to escape but was caught by the people in the market. The accused was given a sound thrashing and later handed over to the police.

Mapusa Police have registered an offence under Section 354D of the IPC against the accused and arrested him.

Mapusa Police are investigating further.
