Man caught with ganja and cash in Assagao

Anjuna police raided a location in Assagao and seized ganja worth Rs 7.3 lakh along with Rs 7 lakh in cash. They arrested Maqsood Ahmed Patlu, a 54-year-old resident of Assagao and native of Srinagar.

Police had received a tip-off that drugs were being sold near Jamun Bar and Restaurant in Assagao. Based on this information, a team laid a trap at the site between 12:20 am and 3:25 am on Sunday. When the accused arrived to deliver the drugs, he was caught by the police.

During the search, police found 1.77 kg of ganja and 56 grams of other drugs, along with cash amounting to Rs 7 lakh. The drugs and cash were seized on the spot.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the accused was taken into custody.

The raid was carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Amir Talal and his team, under the supervision of Police Inspector Suraj Gawas. The Mapusa court has remanded the accused to five days of police custody.
