A 68-year-old man died in a road mishap at Saligao on Tuesday.
According to police reports, the incident had taken place on October 3 at about 6 pm, when a two-wheeler rider Saiyog Naik (19) of Cotula-Saligao allegedly rode the motorcycle recklessly while proceeding from Saligao towards the Parra side.
On reaching close to a restaurant at Grand Morod, Saligao, Naik's motorcycle collided with the motorcycle, driven by Prakash Mehta (68), a native of Gujarat but residing at Cotula-Saligao, which had stopped while he was trying to take a U-turn to proceed from Parra to Saligao.
Mehta sustained grievous injuries in the mishap and died while undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital at Bambolim.
The body was later handed over to the family. Saligao police has registered an offence under Sections 279 and 304-A IPC and PSI Ulhas Khot is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Milind Bhuimbar.
