A 62-year-old man was found dead outside his home at Katem-Baina, in what is suspected to be a fall from a height.

The incident came to light after Mormugao police received a call from PCR Margao stating that a person had fallen from a height near the Moga Bai area.

Police rushed to the spot and found Anthony Peter Rodrigues lying unconscious on the left side of his house, with blood coming from the back of his body.

He was immediately taken to the Sub-District Hospital in Chicalim, where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.

During the inquiry, police conducted an inquest and panchanama of the body, which was later kept at the South Goa District Hospital in Margao for medico-legal formalities.

Enquiries with a family member and a tenant revealed that Rodrigues was living alone and did various household jobs such as painting, electrical repairs, rooftop work and tile fitting.

Mormugao police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Saidatta Naik of Mormugao Police Station under the supervision of PI Sherif Jacques and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
