Vasco police on Wednesday arrested a man from Pontemol-Curchorem on charges of stealing a bag containing an iPhone and other valuables from a hypermarket at Dabolim.
According to reports, Devidas Palekar (49) was accused of stealing a bag which was kept at the bag counter outside the hypermat at Dabolim.
"The stolen bag contained an iPhone worth Rs 52,000, a smartwatch worth Rs 2,800 and cash around 2500.The accused was immediately tracked within four hours of reporting of the crime and the entire stolen property was recovered from him. The accused is presently in police custody,” said the source.
Head Constable Santosh Bhatkar is investigating the case under the supervision of Vasco PI Nilesh Rane and guidance of Mormugao DySP Raju Raut Desai.
