OLD GOA
After absconding for over 10 days, the accused in the fatal assault case at Old Goa finally landed in police net after he was traced at Kolkata on Friday.
The accused, Gajanan Pawar, was brought to the Old Goa police station late evening and the police were in the process of effecting his arrest.
When contacted, the Old Goa police could only inform that the accused Pawar was caught at Kolkata and that the process of his arrest was currently underway.
It may be recalled that Pawar had allegedly assaulted 54-year-old Joseph Dias outside a shopping mart on September 3, causing serious head injuries to Dias who later passed away after battling for life for 17 days.
Before the assault, Pawar had got into an argument with Joseph’s wife, Caroline, who had protested Pawar’s action of jumping the queue at a cash counter of the shopping mart.
