Manohar Parrikar Chess: Tamil Nadu’s Nawin wins Category C title

Tamil Nadu’s Nawin M S (Elo rating 1538) won the Category C event (for players of ELO rating 1600 and below) of Manohar Parrikar Goa Grandmaster International Open Online chess tournament.

In all, 330 players India, Canada, South Africa and USA participated in the tournament. Nawin scored 10.5 points from 13 matches and finished first due to a better tiebreak score ahead of Aaron Mendes (1575) who also secured 10.5 points. ACM Arvind Iyer (1558), also from Tamil Nadu, was also tied with 10.5 points but was placed third.

Goan players AIM Ethan Vaz (1384) was placed sixth, Netra Savaikar (1534) was placed 12th, Snehil Shetty (1551) was placed 15th and Ayush Shirodkar (1563) and Joy Kakodkar (1443) were placed in 16th and 18th place respectively.
