MAPUSA
Mapusa police have registered a case of alleged forgery, impersonation, cheating and criminal conspiracy in connection with the fraudulent transfer of a valuable property at Pomburpa.
According to police, Advocate Gajendranath R Usgaonkar of Alto-Porvorim filed a complaint alleging that the accused conspired to forge documents relating to a property bearing Survey No. 19/1 of Pomburpa village, measuring 1,850 square metres, and used the fake records to transfer rights over the land.
The FIR names Shantaram Dattaram Dessai, Dattaram Krishnarao Dessai and Kashibai Dattaram Dessai, all residents of Ambedem, Sattari; Ganpat Sonu Parab and Jyoti Ganpat Parab, both from Dattawadi, Mapusa; Chetan Developers and Promoters; and other unknown persons as accused.
Police said the complaint alleges that, before July 12, 2021, the accused entered into a criminal conspiracy and prepared forged documents relating to the property.
As part of the alleged conspiracy, they are accused of impersonating the late Francisco Do Rosario Fernandes, the original landlord of the property, who died on November 2, 1970, in Harare, Zimbabwe. The forged documents were allegedly submitted before the concerned authorities to facilitate transactions involving the property.
According to the complaint, the accused used these documents to transfer the property rights in their favour, depriving the lawful heirs of their ownership rights and causing them wrongful loss.
Mapusa Police have registered an offence under Sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating), 465, 466, 467, 468 and 471 (forgery-related offences), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) read with Section 34 (common intention) of the IPC. Police said notices under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been issued to the accused.
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Viraj Korgaonkar.
