The Mapusa Shigmotsav Mandal has decided to hold its annual Shigmo extravaganza, including the parade, which will kick off at 4 pm from Rashtroli, near Alankar Theatre, Mapusa, on March 23 (Sunday).
Besides, the Mapusa Shigmotsav Mandal has prepared a five-day variety programme beginning on March 19.
The Shigmo parade is jointly organised by the Tourism Department and the Mapusa Shigmotsav Mandal.
The Shigmo parade on March 23 will start from Rashtroli and proceed towards Communidade Ghor, Old Asilo Hospital, and then straight along the Mapusa Market Road, ending at the taxi stand.
“As usual, we have decided to start the parade at 4 pm. We will try to start on time,” said Gurudas Natekar, Organising Chairman of the Mapusa Shigmotsav Mandal.
The organisers have planned a variety programme from March 19 to 23 from 6.00 pm onwards at the taxi stand.
The “Rangostav” and fancy dress competition for kids will be held on March 19 at the Mapusa taxi stand.
On March 20, a band, ‘The Band Rockers’, will be performing at 6.30 pm at the taxi stand.
On March 21, ‘Rang Khamb Group’ from Kankavli will present a programme showcasing various folk arts.
On March 22, Maharashtra Sangeet Ratna “ Sahyadri Vahini winner, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Zee Marathi Winner, Sur Nava Dhyas Nava Colours Marathi Winner, Aniruddha Joshi, will present “Geet Manatale….” a musical programme.
Deputy Speaker and Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza will be the Chairman of the Mapusa Shigmotsav Mandal, while Chairperson Priya Mishal will be the Vice Chairperson.
In the working committee, Gurudas Natekar is the Chairman, Tarak Arolkar is the Senior Vice Chairman, besides councillors Anand Bhaidkar, Chandrashekhar Benkar, Barbara Carasco, Shashank Narvekar, Nutan Bicholkar, Vikas Arolkar, Kayle Braganza, Shubhangi Vaigankar, Kishori Korgaonkar, Ashirwad Khorjuvekar, Kamal D’Souza, Swapnil Shirodkar, Viraj Phadke, Anvi Korgaonkar, Sudhir Kandolkar, and Prakash Bhivshet as Vice Chairmen.
