MARGAO
Margao Purument Fest 2026 concluded at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on May 17, attracting visitors from South Goa.
Organised by Goemkaranchi Girestkai in collaboration with the Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM) and the Directorate of Rural Development, the two-day festival featured more than 40 stalls representing villages and constituencies of South Goa. The event was held from 11 am to 8 pm on May 16 and 17.
The stalls displayed traditional purumeth products, including pickles, jams, masalas, Goan sweets, coconut crafts, pottery, bamboo and coir items, dry fish, rice varieties and kokum products. A food court served Goan cuisine and non-alcoholic beverages.
Competitions for women and children were also held during the festival. Stalls were evaluated on display, hygiene, visitor engagement and product knowledge, with awards presented to selected participants.
The festival aimed to support local artisans, women’s self-help groups and traditional producers, while promoting organic, homemade and seasonal products.
Those present included Digambar Kamat, Rajendra Talak, Deepali Naik, Project Director, DRDA South – Goa SRLM, and Dr Sangam Patil, COO, Goa SRLM.
